Acrylics Class for Adults

This popular class meets every Thursday morning from 9:30 to 12:30 and is an ongoing acrylics class for both new and experienced painters.  Every other week Sharon instructs during the first 30-40 minutes of class then rotates from student to student for individual attention.  Instruction may involve traditional painting techniques, abstraction, or focus on elements of design.  Only easels are provided, so students must bring their own supplies.  The class has limited capacity, so please contact sharongates1@gmail.com for availability.  A supply list will be furnished upon registration.  For more information, click here: Forstall Art Center .

Sharon Gates is an award-winning artist and instructor of 23 years.  She is a Signature member and past president of the Watercolor Society of Alabama and belongs to several other painting societies as well.  Her classes at the Birmingham Museum of Art always result in positive reviews and her workshops are usually full.  Over the years Sharon has also been invited to judge a number of art shows and exhibitions.  Sharon would love to talk with you about conducting your next workshop, program or judge your group's show.  Please click CONTACT THE ARTIST above to inquire or to put your event on her calendar.

1:30-4:30 p.m.

Due to a full Thursday morning class we are opening up an afternoon class.  This class will be basically like the morning acrylics class (see above) with the exception of inviting watercolor painters.  Artists of all skill levels will benefit.  A supply list will be furnished upon registration.

For MARCH we will focus on creating DYNAMIC COMPOSITIONS by improving our DRAWING SKILLS and our understanding of VALUES.   The Japanese concept of Notan, seeing shapes of light and dark, will be explored.  For more information Click Here:  Forstall Art Center
